RIM has rebooted its touchscreen range with the Storm 2 9520, featuring re-tooled clickable touchscreen technology and new, intuitive text input options. It's still going to be seen as RIM's attempt to rival the likes of the iPhone 3GS, Palm Pre and HTC Hero, but are the updates on the Storm 2 enough to fix the issues that were so widely condemned on the original Storm?

The Storm 2 is the same size as the original, but 5g heavier. We'd have imagined this would have given it a weightier and premium feel, but in practice this isn't the case with the phone feeling a little too heavy in the hand.

RIM has updated its flagship model with a sleeker and more powerful model – the Bold 2 9700. Featuring an improved processor and latest UI, the phone certainly has the specs but can it stop the iPhone and Android onslaught? The BlackBerry Bold was one of the standout devices of last year – it was RIM's statement that it was coming for the consumer market.

The classic QWERTY keyboard-packing BlackBerry has been getting a subtle but important makeover recently, slowly moving out of the boardroom ghetto to become all things for everyone. The Bold and Storm marked the new line in the sand with their stylish form factors and eye-catching on-screen graphics, and so it is with the new BlackBerry Curve 8900.

Its gently curving lines and black-on-chrome appearance certainly owe more to the Bold than its immediate Curve series predecessor, the 8300, which still had the look of the dull corporate drone about it.

It looks similar to existing BlackBerry Models – including the BlackBerry Curve 8900 – but, unlike most of its siblings, it doesn't feature a rollerball for navigation. You'll find a small optical pad below the display instead.

It works like a mini touchpad and is simple and accurate to use. With no moving parts, it's also likely to prove more robust for long-term use. Unfortunately, build quality on the rest of the handset leaves much to be desired – the main difference from more expensive models being the omission of a metal backplate.

Sony Ericsson may have whetted appetites for truly top-end cameraphone quality with its recently announced 12.1-megapixel Satio, but the mobile maker has also been taking care of business in its mid-range portfolio, with the Sony Ericsson C903 its latest 5-megapixel Cyber-shot sharp-shooter.

Sporting the Cyber-shot brand, the C510 is geared up to be another of Sony Ericsson's photo-majoring mobiles. It's not one of the high megapixel-count big hitters like the C905, however; the 3.2-megapixel cameraphone is instead billed as Sony Ericsson's most affordable Cyber-shot phone so far.
